1. What SS17 trend(s) are you most excited about? What are the most exciting new colour and pattern trends?
Blues are well and truly in and never fail to excite me. I love the darker shades and in particular Mylands ‘Bond Street’ - designed to captivate attention; but if you want a bit more energy then Pantone Lapis Blue is an emerging fun colour. Green is also a strong contender this summer; I am a big fan of the rich olive hues especially on furniture! Fawn has an underlying passion for colours that give an aura of romance and luxury.
There are also a lot of fabric designers that are now experimenting with tone and pattern combinations! House of Hackney and Christian Lacroix are favourites of mine; for their inventive eye catching prints… a kaleidoscope of colour and creativity. Both base a lot of their designs on plants and animals – a few of my favourites can be seen on Fawn’s Instagram!
2. Can you tell us about some of the products or services you stock that would help us to achieve that look?
With more people improving rather than moving, Fawn offers design consultations at your home with full schematics available to help add some personality to your home.
Fawn also has it’s own bespoke workshop with a spray booth. Our skilled craftsmen can lacquer your kitchen cabinets in any colour and finish you desire. Whilst wardrobes are being redefined by introducing luxury details. These can feature panels of fabric or leather teamed with beautifully crafted handles adding individuality.
3. If we were to make one tweak to our kitchens to update the look, what would it be?
Replacing the doors is a great option for refreshing a kitchen, or creating a change in style! For example, if you are looking for that industrial vibe, doors can be clad using micro concrete. A copper fascia can be applied to the front of a door for something more glamorous. A more affordable and effective alternative to the doors would be to add an antique mirror behind the hob!
4. What one killer piece of furniture would you recommend?
A bar! Or even a snazzy sideboard that doubles up as a drinks cabinet! It brings a shot of fun and a talking point to any party – Staying in is the new going out!
5. What looks/styles are you a bit fed up of seeing now?
I would possibly say those brightly painted accent walls… but overall that’s a tricky question. Interiors are ever changing and at a fast pace which is not likely to slow down. Knowing your personal interior style is crucial if you want to create a home you will love beyond the current season. I always take the time to get to know my clients and understand their personal tastes; then I build on these to create a design that is beautifully unique and reflects their personality.
6. What do you do that’s drives you apart from every other kitchen manufacturer?
Fawn is completely design-led and client focused. No two kitchens are the same as we tailor our designs to each of our clients. Our workshop is five miles south of Bristol city centre, I would be delighted to give you a tour and show you your bespoke pieces being made.
